Basic Process of Implant

To determine if dental implants are appropriate for patients or not, is highly dependent on your needs, and the condition of their jawbone. Not always is everyone a good candidate for dental implants, as some people do not have an adequate bone structure to support the implants. However, bone grafting helps more patients enjoy the convenience and strength of these dental restorations.

So, implants provide people alternative to the basic, traditional ways of replacing missing teeth. The "implants" are artificial roots made of synthetic material, usually titanium metal. There are several phases to the implant process.

Firstly, dentists begin with an evaluation of the patient's medical and dental histories, and a full clinical examination of their entire mouth and missing tooth area. The clinical examinations should include specific X-rays as well.

During the first operation, the implant is surgically placed in the jawbone under local anesthesia. The length of the healing time is based on the quality and quantity of bone, as well as the type of implant placed. It may take three to six months to fuse with the bone, which is called osseointegration. When the gum is completely healed and the bone is fused with the implant, the post is attached to the implant and protrudes above the gum tissue.

Finally, a replacement restoration is cemented, or screwed to the implant abutment. Though it depends on the situation, dental implants can support a fixed crown or bridge or act as a stabilizing base for a full denture. The procedure can needs upto 9-12 months for completion and it has a high degree of success.

The steps avobe for these procedures include: -Missing teeth root is replaced with implants, which are covered under the gum line.
-A healing period of three to six months(it depends) allows implants to take.
-Implants are uncovered and extensions attached.
-Replacement teeth are affixed to the implants and extensions.
