Bone graft - Dental Implants Net

Bone grafts can build up or fill in jawbone defects allowing the placement of dental implants.

Procedures

  • 1.A block of bone graft is place in the area of alveolar bone loss and autogenous bone or an artificial bone replacement material is packed into the surrounding gaps.
  • 2.To keep the block of bone graft from moving, it is fixed with a screw, commonly made of titanium.
  • 3.Once the bone grafts have been integrated with the alveolar bone, the screw is removed.

An implant can be put in place at the same time as the lost bone and tissue are regenerated.
